How do I determine the size of fan needed and what is the advantage of a pull design?

Determining the size of fan a customer needs depends on the application. Generally, a 16-inch high performance ‘puller’ will cool most motors with 400 HP in cruising conditions. Our application engineers can help you select the exact right fit for any application. Typically, pull type fans are 20% more efficient.

As a point of reference, street rods commonly use one 16-inch puller and sometimes an additional fan for oil, transmission or air conditioning systems. Most muscle cars and street machines use two 11 to 13-inchhigh performance puller fans and sometimes an additional fan for oil, transmission or air conditioning systems.

For extreme horsepower systems, we recommend the BMF (Big Motor Fan) that has the most air flow in the market, outperforming the competition by 20% or more.
